John Bradley is the voice of Southern Illinois in Springfield. John has proudly represented the good people of the 117th District of the Illinois House since 2003, and fights every day for the values of the people of Franklin, Hamilton and Williamson counties.
John’s priorities in Springfield are:
- Bringing economic development to Southern Illinois, through supporting the coal industry, improving workers’ compensation and unemployment insurance, helping develop the Franklin County Regional Economic Development Corporation (FREDCO) and the Southern Illinois Economic Development Authority, and serving as the gatekeeper for taxpayers as Chairman of the House Revenue and Finance Committee
- Standing up for our traditions and values, through protecting the rights of the unborn, preserving our Second Amendment rights and leading the fight against methamphetamine and sexual predators
- Promoting new opportunities for growth and development in our area, through opening doors for oil and gas expansion and bringing valuable dollars for K-12 and higher education at very challenging times for the state budget
John is active in several area organizations, including local economic development groups, Marion Rotary International, the Williamson County Airport Authority Board, Royalton Lion’s Club, National Wild Turkey Federation, National Rifle Association and Ducks Unlimited.
John has degrees from Southeastern Illinois College, the University of Texas and the University of Illinois Law School, but always has been a Southern Illinoisan. He was born in Harrisburg, and his wife Michelle and he are raising three sons in Marion. They are active in Christian Covenant Fellowship Church in Carterville.
